Watertown, New York
Vigil participants in Watertown met a military man who arrived at Planned Parenthood--his wife already inside, preparing to have an abortion. The man is about to be deployed, and the couple already have one child.
"Please don't do it," a 40 Days for Life volunteer pleaded. "Save your baby!"
The man entered the facility, while vigil participants doubled down on prayer. After quite a while, the couple emerged together...smiling.
"They chose life!" wrote Flora, the local vigil leader. "God will use us if we make ourselves available!"
Flora is smiling too, because pro-lifers ARE making themselves available. "There were 10 new people representing two new churches at the kickoff rally!" she said. "All of them are joining the Watertown vigil!"
Beaverton, Oregon
40 Days for Life general counsel Matt Britton visited the Beaverton vigil just outside Portland before heading to a nearby church for a larger rally and talk.
"A great team with many long-term, dedicated, competent folks running the vigil," Matt observed.
Matt was joined by a speaker from Oregon Right to Life. "Everybody was eager to learn about Oregon's incredibly progressive laws and what is happening in the rest of the country," Matt said.
While Portland is an awfully tough place to be pro-life, the sustained success of this vigil shows that you don't need political power to make an impact!
And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?" But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

Lord, we trust that you are always with us even as we encounter the mysteries of life, both great and small. Please give us the grace to accept your will for our lives, especially in the moments when we cannot fully understand how your plan will work together for good.
