Some in our nation are trying to convince us that free abortions and vasectomies are a message of hope for our future.

Planned Parenthood bragging about providing free abortions at the Democratic National Convention while supporters march around dressed as abortion pills shows its disconnect from all Americans, especially those who've had an abortion.

It might also be an offense against federal law.

Yesterday, the 40 Days for Life Institute of Law & Justice filed formal complaints asking the IRS to assess whether Planned Parenthood's disgusting stunt violated its 501(c)(3) tax status, which nets the abortion giant $700 million a year from taxpayers.

It's common sense that nonprofit organizations cannot make impermissible gifts to politicians. Planned Parenthood's recklessness on such a public stage is astounding.

Planned Parenthood is tax exempt. Therefore, offering a political party and selected candidates and their supporters free abortions and other in-kind gifts is NOT permitted by the IRS.

This is partisan politicking plain and simple: Planned Parenthood has clearly chosen its party, its platform, and its candidates.

It's one thing to support abortion philosophically. It's quite another to do abortions at a political convention and dress up in costumes to sensationalize a serious issue...especially for the millions of women who've had an abortion.

Clearly, Planned Parenthood cannot read the room or--apparently--the tax code.
