We talk a lot about empowering women not to have abortions.
How do we respond with mercy when they go through with it anyway?
On this week's episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we talk about how to help heal the mothers, fathers, grandparents, and siblings who carry the trauma of abortion:

Your mere presence can help spur a woman to seek God's forgiveness and healing after an abortion.

Columbus, Ohio

Ohio abortion statistics indicate that about 12 abortions take place every day in Columbus.
So Beth and the Columbus 40 Days for Life team dedicate each hour of their 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. vigil to one mother and one baby.
"It resonates with everyone and gives a targeted purpose to our prayers," Beth explained.
Bishop Earl Fernandes recently joined the vigil. A woman who "had very visibly experienced a lot in her years" stopped and asked for prayer.
"Bishop Fernandes was able to offer her a particular blessing," Beth shared. "Very moving."
Talavera de la Reina, Spain

A young woman in Talavera de la Reina was planning her third abortion. Now she's having her baby!
Her friend's grandmother is a 40 Days for Life volunteer. That volunteer asked her granddaughter to urge the friend not to go through with the abortion...even promising to care for the baby herself if that's what it would take to empower the young mom to choose life.
The campaign leader got the young woman information about a pregnancy help center, and the whole campaign prayed.
"With the support of the campaign's many prayers, the young woman decided to have her baby," the Talavera de la Reina team wrote.
Bristol, Virginia

More than 160 volunteers from 22 Protestant and Catholic churches are praying at the Bristol, Virginia, vigil!
Some cross a state line to get there. Prayer warriors from Calvary Chapel Tri-Cities in Johnson City, Tennessee, have made multiple trips to pray near the local abortion business.
Bristol 40 Days for Life volunteers also toured a local pro-life ministry's mobile medical unit. "What an amazing, dedicated, professional, Christ-led, faith-driven team!!" Angie wrote.
The unit is ready to "hit the road"...as soon as it finds a medical director. While they stand vigil, Angie and her team are praying that the medical unit finds its doctor!

And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice.
--Luke 17:15
Dear Lord, thank you for the innumerable babies and mothers who have been saved from abortion through 40 Days for Life. And thank you in advance for the lives that will be changed through this campaign. Work in our own hearts so that we might see every circumstance as a chance to grow closer to you and to express our thanksgiving for your faithfulness. Amen.
